Whether you're new to the RC hobby or an experienced pilot, understanding your battery choice is fundamental to getting the best results from your equipment. This comprehensive guide covers everything you need to know about the Radient LiPo 3S 2200mAh battery, from its technical specifications to real-world applications and maintenance tips.
Key Features
- 3-Cell (3S) Configuration — The three-cell design delivers 11.1 volts nominal voltage, which is the standard power level for countless RC vehicles, drones, and accessories available in the UK. This voltage tier sits in the sweet spot between lower-power 2S packs and higher-performance 4S systems, making it genuinely versatile.
- 2200mAh Capacity — The 2200 milliamp-hour rating determines how long your RC device will run on a single charge. This mid-range capacity offers a practical balance between weight, size, and runtime, allowing you to enjoy extended sessions without lugging around an enormous battery pack.
- 30C Discharge Rating — The 30C rating means this battery can safely deliver thirty times its capacity (66 amps maximum) in continuous discharge current. This makes it suitable for moderate-to-high performance applications including RC cars, trucks, and multirotor aircraft, whilst maintaining safety margins during demanding manoeuvres.
- XT60 Connector — One of the most common connectors in the RC hobby, the XT60 connector is found on batteries, speed controllers (ESCs), and chargers worldwide. This universal standard ensures you'll have no compatibility headaches when integrating this battery into your RC setup.
- Soft Case Construction — The battery arrives in a protective soft case, which helps shield the cells during storage and transport. This case-based design keeps the pack safe from physical damage without adding unnecessary rigid structure weight.
- Compact Physical Dimensions — Measuring just 100mm in length, 22mm in width, and 36mm in height, this battery is genuinely portable. The compact footprint means you can fit it into tight battery compartments on modern RC vehicles, a critical consideration for anyone building or upgrading an RC car, truck, or aerial platform.
- Lightweight at 174 Grams — At only 174 grams (6.14 ounces), the battery adds minimal weight to your RC platform. In RC, weight management directly impacts handling, acceleration, and flight characteristics, so a lightweight pack like this is genuinely beneficial for performance-conscious pilots and drivers.
Technical Performance
The Radient LiPo 3S 2200mAh 11.1V 30C battery represents solid engineering and manufacturing quality. Lithium polymer technology has become the industry standard for RC applications across the United Kingdom and beyond because it offers superior energy density compared to older battery chemistries. This means you get more power and runtime from a smaller, lighter package — exactly what modern RC vehicles demand. The 30C continuous discharge rating indicates that this battery can handle the power demands of brushless electric motors, fast servos, and demanding flight regimes without thermal stress or cell damage. The engineering behind the 30C rating means the battery's internal resistance is kept low enough to deliver current smoothly whilst maintaining stable voltage under load.
The 11.1V nominal output (which peaks at 12.6V when fully charged and drops to around 9V as it depletes) makes this battery ideal for brushless RC motors in the 2000-4000 KV range, mid-range electric speed controllers, and any RC device engineered to run on 3S LiPo power. The XT60 connector uses gold-plated contacts, ensuring reliable electrical connection and minimal voltage drop during operation. The battery's soft case is constructed to allow some flex, which is actually beneficial for absorbing minor impacts during transport or in-field use. Quality control from Radient means you're getting consistent cell matching and reliable performance across multiple packs, so if you need to purchase additional batteries for extended sessions, they'll behave identically to your first pack.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Radient 3S 2200mAh battery suitable for RC car UK hobbyists and beginners? — Absolutely. This battery is perfectly appropriate for drivers new to the RC car hobby in the UK. The 3S voltage is the most common standard you'll encounter, meaning most ready-to-run RC cars and aftermarket speed controllers support it directly. The 30C discharge rating is more than adequate for recreational driving, bashing, and competitive racing at club level. If you're upgrading from a smaller 2S battery or brushed motor system, this pack will deliver noticeably better performance without requiring special charging equipment beyond a standard 3S-compatible charger.
- What devices can I use this Radient battery with? — This battery is compatible with any RC device designed to accept 3S LiPo packs with an XT60 connector. Common applications include 1/10-scale RC buggies, stadium trucks, monster trucks, and short-course trucks. It also works with compatible RC drones and multirotor platforms, FPV racing quads, and numerous other electric RC gadgets. Always verify your specific device's voltage and connector specifications before purchasing.
- How long does the battery last on a single charge? — Runtime depends entirely on your RC device's power consumption. A lightweight RC car might achieve 15-25 minutes of hard driving on this 2200mAh pack, whilst a slower, more efficient device could run for 30+ minutes. The 2200mAh capacity represents a practical middle ground — large enough for decent runtime without adding excessive weight to your vehicle.
- How do I charge the Radient 3S LiPo battery safely? — You'll need a LiPo-capable battery charger that supports 3S packs. The charger must have a balance charging function to ensure all three cells charge equally. Never use old NiMH chargers or automotive chargers on lithium polymer batteries, as they can damage the cells or create a fire hazard. Always charge in a safe location away from flammable materials, and consider using a LiPo charging bag for extra safety during the charging process.
- What is the difference between 30C and higher discharge ratings like 50C or 100C? — The C rating indicates maximum continuous discharge current. A 30C battery can safely discharge at 30 times its capacity; a 50C can discharge at 50 times its capacity. Higher C ratings allow for more aggressive power delivery but typically cost more. For recreational RC use and most competitive applications, 30C is perfectly adequate. Only specialised racing or aerobatic uses typically demand 50C+ ratings.
- How should I store this battery when not in use? — Store the Radient battery in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ideally, store it at around 50% charge (roughly 3.85V per cell for a 3S pack). Check the battery monthly and top up the charge if voltage has dropped. Never store a LiPo battery in a completely discharged state for extended periods, as this can damage the cells permanently.
- Is this battery waterproof? — Standard LiPo batteries including this Radient pack are not waterproof. The soft case provides no water protection. If you're using a waterproof RC car, you'll need to ensure the battery compartment itself is waterproofed or sealed, or use a dedicated waterproof battery enclosure.
