Overview
The Radient Charge Lead with 4mm Bullet to EC3 Male connector is an essential accessory for RC enthusiasts in the UK who rely on reliable battery charging solutions. Whether you're running an RC car, helicopter, or aircraft, having the right charge lead is critical to maintaining optimal battery performance and ensuring safe, efficient charging every time. This 150mm charge lead is specifically designed to work with ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) battery connections, making it an ideal choice for anyone operating modern RC models that utilise EC3 connectors on their speed controllers.
Manufactured by Radient, a trusted name in RC hobby electronics, this charge lead brings together quality construction and practical design. The 4mm bullet connector on one end ensures secure and reliable connections with your charging equipment, whilst the EC3 Male connector on the opposite end integrates seamlessly with your ESC battery port. Available at RC Model Shop, this is the kind of component that separates the casual RC hobbyist from the serious enthusiast who understands that quality charging infrastructure is just as important as the model itself.
Perfect for UK-based RC car enthusiasts, drone pilots, and aircraft modellers alike, the Radient Charge Lead offers straightforward, no-nonsense functionality that you can depend on. Whether you're preparing for a competitive race day, casual weekend bashing sessions, or practising flight techniques with your RC helicopter or aeroplane, this charge lead ensures your batteries are ready when you are.
Key Features
- 4mm Bullet to EC3 Male Configuration — This charge lead connects your 4mm bullet connector charger to EC3 Male ports on your ESC, providing a standardised connection method that works across multiple RC vehicles and charger brands. The dual-connector approach means you can use a single charge lead with different charging systems without purchasing multiple leads.
- 14 AWG Cable Gauge — The 14 AWG wire specification ensures adequate current handling capacity for safe and efficient battery charging, reducing voltage drop during the charging cycle and protecting both your charger and battery from unnecessary electrical stress. This gauge is industry-standard for charging leads in the RC hobby.
- 150mm Length — The 150mm (approximately 6 inches) length is purpose-designed for ESC battery connections, providing enough cable length to route comfortably from your charger to your model's battery port without excess coiling or strain. This length is ideal for stationary charging setups where the charger sits nearby during operation.
- Radient Quality Construction — Radient is a recognised manufacturer of quality RC electronics and charging accessories, and this charge lead reflects that commitment to reliability. The connectors are securely attached to the cable, and the overall construction is built to withstand repeated use in competitive and recreational RC environments.
- Safe, Standardised Connections — Using established connector standards like 4mm bullets and EC3 means this lead will work reliably with most modern RC chargers and ESC units, eliminating compatibility headaches and ensuring you can charge confidently without worrying about loose connections or poor contact.
Technical Performance
The Radient Charge Lead represents solid engineering designed specifically for the demands of RC charging applications. The 14 AWG wire gauge selected for this lead is the result of careful consideration of current capacity and flexibility — thick enough to safely carry the charging currents typical of modern LiPo and NiMH batteries without generating excessive heat, yet flexible enough to route through tight spaces inside your RC model or around your workshop during charging sessions. The 150mm length is strategically short enough to minimise cable resistance (which reduces charging efficiency) whilst remaining long enough to position your charger conveniently away from the model. The 4mm bullet connectors on the charger side are widely used across the RC hobby and ensure compatibility with professional-grade chargers like the Junsi ICharger range, ISDT chargers, and many other brands recognised in the UK RC hobby. The EC3 Male connector on the ESC end is a modern standard that provides excellent contact surface area and secure mechanical engagement, reducing the risk of accidental disconnection during charging. Whether you're charging 2S, 3S, 4S, or higher cell-count LiPo batteries, or traditional NiMH battery packs, this lead performs consistently without degradation. The connectors are made from quality materials that resist corrosion and oxidation, ensuring long service life even in UK's variable humidity conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will this charge lead work with my RC battery charger? — Yes, this charge lead will work with any charger that features 4mm bullet connectors on the battery output side. This includes most professional RC battery chargers sold in the UK, particularly models from Junsi and ISDT which are popular choices for serious hobbyists. If your charger has different connector sizes, you may need an adapter or alternative charge lead.
- What batteries can I charge using this lead? — This charge lead is compatible with both LiPo (Lithium Polymer) and NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) battery packs, provided your model's ESC has an EC3 Male port. The 14 AWG wire gauge safely handles the charging currents for single-cell through multi-cell configurations, making it suitable for 2S, 3S, 4S, and higher battery packs used in RC cars, helicopters, and aircraft throughout the UK.
- Is the 150mm length suitable for all charging scenarios? — The 150mm length is ideal for stationary charging setups where your charger and model sit relatively close together. If you prefer to charge with your model positioned further away from your charger, you may benefit from a longer extension lead, but for most UK RC enthusiasts charging their vehicles indoors or in their garage, this length works perfectly.
- What is the difference between EC3 and other battery connectors? — EC3 connectors are a modern standard offering larger contact surfaces and more secure mechanical engagement compared to older connector types like XT60 or Traxxas connectors. The EC3 standard provides better current transfer with lower resistance, making it the preferred choice for modern brushless RC systems. If your ESC has a different connector type (such as XT60), you would need a different charge lead with matching connectors.
- How often will I need to replace this charge lead? — Quality charge leads like this Radient product can last for years with proper care. Simply inspect it regularly for any signs of damage to the connectors or cable insulation, and store it away from excessive heat or moisture. Most UK RC hobbyists find a single charge lead serves them reliably across multiple seasons of hobby use.
- Can I use this for balancing my battery whilst charging? — This charge lead is designed for main battery charging only and does not include a balancing connector. If your charger supports balance charging (which most modern chargers do), you will need a separate balance lead for your battery, typically with JST-XH or similar connectors depending on your battery pack specifications.
