Overview

The Etronix 30.3kg/0.09s Standard Digital Servo (ET2072) is a professional-grade, high-voltage digital servo designed for RC enthusiasts who demand precision control and reliability in their RC car, buggy, or truck builds. Whether you're upgrading an existing RC vehicle or building a new RC model from scratch, this waterproof servo delivers the speed, torque and durability needed for competitive racing or weekend bashing. As a trusted UK RC retailer, we stock this servo because it offers exceptional value for money, combining high-voltage performance with a compact standard-size footprint that fits most RC platforms available in the UK market.

Built by Etronix, a recognised manufacturer of quality RC components, this servo is engineered for serious RC enthusiasts who want dependable performance without compromise. The combination of a coreless motor, dual ball bearings and a full metal gear train ensures smooth, precise servo response that RC drivers rely on for accurate steering and throttle control. The waterproof construction means you can confidently use this servo in wet conditions, muddy tracks, or during those typical British weather sessions where rain is part of the experience. This is the servo that demanding RC car UK users choose when they need to upgrade their steering control.

The ET2072 represents the sweet spot for RC hobbyists seeking professional performance at an affordable price point. With speeds as fast as 0.09 seconds per 60-degree rotation at 8.4V and torque output reaching 30.3kg-cm, this servo will handle the demands of 1/10 scale buggies, monster trucks, short-course trucks, and crawlers with equal competence. Whether you're upgrading from a standard servo or replacing a worn unit, the Etronix 30.3kg/0.09s gives you the responsiveness and reliability that separates good RC drivers from great ones.

Key Features

  • High-Voltage Digital Control — This servo operates at high voltage (up to 8.4V), which means faster response times and greater torque output compared to standard 6V servos. High-voltage operation is essential if you're pushing your RC vehicle to competitive levels, as it ensures your steering commands are executed with maximum precision and authority.
  • Waterproof Design — The sealed construction protects internal components from water, mud and dust, making this servo suitable for racing in wet conditions, river crossings, or dirty track environments. UK RC drivers particularly appreciate waterproof servos because British weather is unpredictable, and waterproofing gives peace of mind during outdoor sessions.
  • Coreless Motor — The coreless motor design produces smoother operation with less vibration compared to traditional cored motors. This results in more refined steering input and reduced wear on internal components, extending the servo's operational lifespan.
  • Dual Ball Bearings (2BB) — Two precision ball bearings support the servo shaft, ensuring smooth rotation and minimal friction. This bearing arrangement is critical for consistent servo response and helps prevent the shaft wear that causes jerky or unpredictable steering behaviour in older servos.
  • Full Metal Gear Train — The durable metal gears deliver the 30.3kg-cm torque specification without flex or slippage. Metal gears are significantly more robust than plastic alternatives and can handle the continuous stress of steering an RC vehicle through high-speed cornering and aggressive control inputs.
  • Metal and Plastic Hybrid Case — The combination of metal and plastic construction provides the optimal balance between weight, durability and cost. The metal components reinforce critical stress points while the plastic sections keep overall weight minimal, important for maintaining good weight distribution in your RC setup.
  • Standard Size Footprint — At 40.5 x 20.2 x 38mm and weighing just 58g, this servo fits all standard servo mounts found on 1/10 scale RC cars and buggies. The compact size means you can install it without extensive chassis modifications, making upgrades straightforward for existing RC vehicle owners.
  • 25T Spline Output — The servo horn connector uses the standard 25-tooth spline, which is the industry-standard fitment for most RC servo horns. This ensures you have maximum compatibility with aftermarket horn options and genuine Etronix accessories.
  • Complete Accessory Package Included — Rather than selling the servo alone, Etronix includes a full selection of servo horns, mounting rubber and hardware, so you have everything needed for installation straight from the box.

Technical Performance

The Etronix ET2072 is engineered with serious performance specifications that make it competitive against more expensive servos. The coreless motor combined with the dual ball bearing system ensures minimal friction and maximum efficiency, translating directly to the impressive speed rating of 0.09 seconds per 60-degree rotation when powered by 8.4V. At the standard 6.0V voltage supplied by many RC receiver batteries, the servo still delivers respectable 0.11-second speed with 24.70kg-cm of torque, and when you upgrade to high-voltage LiPo power at 8.4V, performance jumps dramatically to 0.09s transit time and full 30.3kg-cm torque output. The metal gear train is the key to reliability here; traditional plastic gears would slip and wear under this kind of continuous stress, but metal gears maintain precision even after thousands of steering corrections. The dual ball bearings eliminate side-play in the output shaft, which is critical because any play in the steering servo translates directly into handling inconsistency in your RC vehicle. The waterproof sealing throughout the case means moisture cannot penetrate to the motor windings or bearing surfaces, preventing corrosion and electrical short circuits. For UK RC enthusiasts who use their vehicles in all weather conditions, this waterproofing is not a luxury feature but a practical necessity that extends servo lifespan significantly. The servo operates reliably across the voltage range of 4.8V to 8.4V, giving you flexibility in your power setup, whether you're using traditional NiMh receiver batteries or upgrading to modern LiPo technology. At 58 grams, the servo is light enough for competition setups where every gram affects handling and acceleration, yet heavy enough to feel built to last through season-long racing campaigns.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Etronix ET2072 suitable for upgrading my standard RC servo? — Yes, this servo is an excellent upgrade choice for any 1/10 scale RC car, buggy, monster truck or short-course truck currently using a standard servo. The speed and torque improvements are immediately noticeable, particularly in tight cornering where the increased torque prevents servo stall and loss of steering authority. Many UK RC drivers use this servo as their first upgrade when they want better performance without spending on the most expensive servos available.
  • Will this servo work with my 6V NiMh battery or do I need LiPo? — The Etronix ET2072 works perfectly with standard 6V NiMh receiver batteries, delivering 0.11s speed and 24.70kg-cm torque at that voltage. However, if you upgrade to high-voltage LiPo receiver packs (typically 2S LiPo at 7.4V or regulated to 8.4V), you'll unlock the full 0.09s speed and 30.3kg-cm torque potential. The servo's operating range spans 4.8V to 8.4V, so it's future-proof if you decide to upgrade your power system later.
  • Is the Etronix ET2072 waterproof enough for river crossings and water-based RC courses? — Yes, the waterproof sealing throughout the case protects against water ingress during wet conditions. The servo has been specifically engineered with waterproof construction, making it suitable for muddy tracks, water splashes, and damp environments. This is particularly valuable for UK RC enthusiasts racing in outdoor conditions during the wetter months of the year.
  • What is the difference between this servo and the standard plastic-geared alternatives? — The critical difference is the full metal gear train, which provides superior durability and precision compared to plastic gears. Metal gears resist stripping and wear far better, especially under the continuous stress of steering an RC vehicle through aggressive manoeuvres. Additionally, the waterproof construction, dual ball bearings and coreless motor represent a significant step up in engineering quality, making this servo much more reliable for competitive or intensive use.
  • Will this servo fit in my RC vehicle without modifications? — The standard size footprint (40.5 x 20.2 x 38mm) and 25T spline output make this servo compatible with virtually all 1/10 scale RC vehicles designed for standard servos. This includes popular platforms like Traxxas models, ARRMA buggies, Losi vehicles and most other mainstream RC cars available in the UK market. The included mounting rubber allows for standard servo tray installation without chassis alterations.
  • How does the coreless motor benefit my RC driving experience? — The coreless motor produces smoother operation with less vibration, which translates to more predictable steering feel and better centre-point holding. You'll notice the difference immediately when making precision adjustments; the servo responds smoothly rather than with the slight jerkiness sometimes experienced with cored motor servos. This smoothness is especially valuable in steering-dependent disciplines like carpet racing or technical crawling.
  • What makes the dual ball bearing system important? — The two ball bearings (2BB) eliminate side-play and friction in the output shaft, ensuring that your steering inputs are executed with absolute precision. Without proper bearing support, servo shafts develop play over time, causing handling inconsistency and eventually steering wobble. The dual bearing design maintains tight tolerances even after extended use, keeping your servo responsive and reliable throughout its operational life.
